## Overview

*Self-evaluations enable Orthodox faith schools to continuously evaluate their religious and academic effectiveness, ethos, and communal life against inspection frameworks customised for Orthodox educational institutions.*

Keeping track of detailed religious and secular inspection criteria and synthesising spiritual, liturgical, and academic evidence alongside strategic school overviews is a vital leadership responsibility. The Orthodox SEF module provides a structured, collaborative platform to evaluate institutional effectiveness across every dimension of the inspection framework, grounding reflections in the school's Orthodox ethos, community context, and inspection trajectory.

***

### Grounded in Orthodox Ethos, Context & Inspection Trajectory

A comprehensive self-evaluation reflects how traditional religious values and rigorous academic standards are lived out in the school community:

* **Contextual Statements**: Position your self-evaluation within its institutional and community setting. Capture narrative statements detailing religious ethos, Rabbinic or ecclesiastical guidance, community partnerships, pupil intake, and foundational principles.
* **Priorities & Progress from Last Inspection**: Directly link denominational self-evaluation with school improvement. Record recommendations from your previous inspection report alongside concrete actions taken, verified evidence of impact, and priorities linked to your School Development Plan.

***

### Inspection-Ready Format & Multi-Tiered Evaluation

The module specifically supports denominational and statutory inspection requirements:

* **Dedicated Inspection-Ready Export**: Inspections require focused self-evaluation. The module features an inspection print engine compiling a formatted summary incorporating your primary context statements and area summaries for inspection teams.
* **Granular Criteria Evaluation**: Detailed criteria and descriptors are itemised across all core framework domains, evaluating religious studies, prayer and liturgical life, character development, pastoral care, and leadership. Criterion owners record evidence notes and hyperlink directly to curriculum progression maps and student portfolios.
* **Five-Heading Area Summaries**: For each inspection domain, leaders curate a concise single-page executive overview across five key dimensions:
  1. **Summary**: Synthesis of religious distinctiveness and overall effectiveness in this domain.
  2. **Actions Taken**: Concrete initiatives implemented, particularly in response to prior inspection recommendations.
  3. **Impact of Actions**: Verified spiritual, academic, and pastoral outcomes across pupils and staff.
  4. **Strengths**: Celebrated areas of exemplary practice, community engagement, and spiritual depth.
  5. **Areas for Development**: Targeted priorities for continuous improvement and community collaboration.
