Professional standards frameworks exist in many countries and provide a common language for describing effective teaching practice. In some frameworks — such as the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers — distinct levels of proficiency are described, giving teachers a clear progression to reflect against throughout their career. Some Multi-Academy Trusts in the UK have developed their own bespoke growth frameworks for the same purpose. The Professional Standards module gives every teacher in your school a private, structured space to reflect on their practice against whichever framework your school uses, store evidence, and open that record up for developmental conversations with a colleague or coach whenever they choose.

How It Works

Your school’s framework is pre-loaded into the module — you do not need to re-enter descriptors manually. Once the framework is in place, each teacher can access their own self-reflection record at any time and work through the standards at their own pace.
1

Access your self-reflection

Every teacher has their own private self-reflection record. You can return to it at any time throughout the year to update ratings, add notes, or attach evidence — nothing is submitted or shared unless you choose to do so.
2

Record evidence

Against each standard or descriptor you can store evidence — links, documents, or notes — that illustrate your practice. Evidence stays private to you until you decide to share the record.
3

Share with a colleague or coach

When you are ready, you can share your self-reflection record with a trusted colleague, mentor, or coach to support a professional conversation. Sharing is in your control and does not make the record visible to line managers or appraisers automatically.

Key Features

  • Pre-loadable frameworks — major professional standards frameworks (e.g. Australian Teaching Standards) and MAT-specific growth frameworks can be loaded directly into the module, ready for immediate use.
  • Private self-reflection — each staff member’s record is their own. It is not visible to managers or appraisers unless the individual chooses to share it.
  • Evidence storage — attach notes, links, or documents against individual standards to build a portfolio of evidence over time.
  • Shareable with a colleague or coach — you control who sees your record, making it a safe space for honest self-reflection and growth-oriented dialogue.
This module is designed for professional development, not performance management. Its purpose is to give staff genuine ownership of their own professional growth. It is intentionally separate from the appraisal process so that teachers can reflect honestly without feeling evaluated.
